Book Snob – God in the Machine by Thea Atkinson

God in the Machine by Thea Atkinson Evelyn is just another inmate suffering from a Jesus complex, but to her roommate, Celia, she is God Incarnate. God in the Machine is a slipstream tale of divinity. I downloaded this as part of a free promotion.  I have never spoken with Thea Atkinson but O.M.G. I so want to.  Seriously, I’m like all fan girl crushed out on her now.  I might have to stalk.  This short story is so good, creepy, beautiful, and epic there aren’t even words. I can’t really give...

Spiritual Lessons the Hard Way by JC Andrijeski

I’ve had a pretty unconventional relationship with spirituality and religion, really for most of my life. I was raised Catholic, and remember as a child wishing I could be a priest. I tried arguing theology with my teachers in Catholic school, to no avail. Some were patient with this…some, not so...

Indie Pride: I’ve never played well with others #indierocks

When Terri Giuliano Long emailed me yesterday and asked if I would help promote the spirit of her post today on Huffington Post (not up yet so no link) about the stigma against Indie Authors, I immediately said yes.  Her posts on Novel Publicity and IndieReader.com are always so eloquent and researched with like references to smart people and stuff.  And then recently she ran a whole Indie Pride event on her blog and is doing all kinds of stuff for the community.  So when she asked me, while my first answer...

The Atheist and Her Soul by Caitlin E. Adams

I have a soul, a spirit, or whatever you wish to call it, and I am an atheist. I do not think these concepts conflict. I have recently and enthusiastically embraced the label of “atheist” because I simply don’t believe that a god or gods exist, and I am fed up with the bad rap those who don’t believe in a deity get (I’ve always had a soft spot for the underdog). While defining something by what it is not is weak and reinforces the exclusion such labels aim for (the term “atheist” was a pejorative...
